Description
Bail Bond Issued to Nehemiah Allen. New York, August 21, 1798. Allen was placed under a $10.00 bond ''at the suit of John Dodge of a plea of trespass assault and battery.'' According to the docket on the verso, Allen paid his bail on January 14th, 1799 .

8'' x 6-1/2'' part-printed document, inscribed in neat hand, docketed on verso. Moderate browning, light foxing, neat vertical split though center, another fold line to upper right comer, some edgewear and a few minor chips to edges, small dampstain to bottom edge.

New-York, Mayor's Court, On Tuesday the Seventh Day of August in the Year of our Lord, 1798 City of New-York, ss. (illegible) is delivered to Bail, on the taking of his Body to Nehemiah Allen of the fifth ward of the City of New-York, (illegible) and John Doe, of the fame Place, Yeoman, at the Suit of Jogn Dodge of a Plea of trespass assault and battery Taken and acknowledged, this $1000 21st Day of August 1798 Before Me, (illegible) This above is a (Ineligible) copy of the original Bail Piece on file in my office (illegible).
